About Us

La Maison des Dames is our story. It began with a couple living in Brussels who, by chance, fell in love with an old house in a village they had never heard of before deciding to settle there.

What followed was a journey of discovery. During renovation work, we uncovered the house’s history: an underground chamber, stone vaults, and the base of a medieval tower. We found ourselves living at the heart of a former Romanesque abbey, a surprising twist for two historians.

Later, the house felt suddenly vast when our children left, just before the first lockdown. That moment led us to reflect on our future, our desires, and our values.

Eventually, we made a decision. We chose to open our home and share it with others, through simple, local, and heartfelt meals, or during peaceful stays in the countryside.
